The first Pit to serve as the Joe Team's headquarters was located in underneath the Chaplain's Assistant School's motor pool in Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island. Only members of the elite G.I. Joe and the privileged few are privy to its existence. Even the chaplains and their students are not aware their motor pool has a huge secret underground. The Pit is multi leveled, containing levels for private sleeping quarters, an armory and firing range, a motor pool, Command and Controll, and a full medical suite. Cobra Command had its beginnings when Cobra Commander settled in an American town called Springfield. Springfield was a perfect place to start the organization as the town itself had fallen on hard times and the population was disillusioned. To the outsider observer, Springfield is a one company town, barely hanging on. If not for the arrival of ARBco, the town would have disappeared years ago. Below the city is the heart of the Cobra base, almost a second city, in it's own right.
