GREAT MAZINGER

HISTORY:

Great Mazinger was made to fight the legions of the Emperor of Darkness in Mazinger's place. It was obvious that while Mazinger worked great against the first generation of enemy robots it's metal proved ineffective against this new generation. This Mazinger was built in secret by Koji's father,Dr. Kenzo Kabuto. Tetsuya and Jun were both taken in by Dr. Kabuto and trained long and hard from an early age to one day pilot Great Mazinger and Venus Ace. This represents the main difference between Tetsuya and Koji. While the role of hero was thrust on Koji and he had to learn on the spot how to deal with the situation Tetsuya already had his training and was a professional warrior.

The Great Mazinger TV series is a direct sequel to the Mazinger Z series. To completely see the Mazinger Story you need to watch both series. Great Mazinger features the return of many members of the old cast including Boss and his friends, Chio, and Duke Gorgon. We also witness the resurection of Dr. Hell and the dramatic return of Koji Kabuto and his legendary, Mazinger Z. For for information on this series go to the End of Mazinger team up section.

CAST OF VILLANS


GREAT MAZINGER was created by Dr. Kenzo Kabuto. The pilot was Tetsuya Tsurugi.

WEAPONS:

THUNDER BREAK: This was one of Great Mazinger's most potent weapon. Thunder would come from the skies and power-up Great Mazinger by hitting his horns. He would then release a thunder beam from his fingers at the robot. He could also do a double Thunder Break from both hands as well as a Blade Thunder Break by using his Mazinger Blades.

ATOMIC PUNCH: The punch was just like Mazinger's except that began to spin soon after being launched giving them more power to smash through their targets. They definately packed more "punch" (sorry, bad joke) than Mazinger's.

DRILL PRESSURE PUNCH: Lacking the Iron Cutter, this is how Great Mazinger's Punches made real damage. Thursters would come out the sides and increase the force of the Punch's spin causing much more damage.

NAVAL MISSILES: Great Mazinger's missiles were vertually identical to Mazinger's.

MAZINGER BLADES: A cool new addition for Great Mazinger. Swords would come out from holsters in his legs. Besides close combat weapons, if Great could stab an enemy with a Blade, the hilt would attract the Thunder Break making it a sure hit as well as letting the electricity get into the target easier.

GREAT TYPHOON: This attack remained strong as ever. It looked identical to Mazinger's but the winds were stronger.

BREAST OF BURN: Even though it's not Great Mazinger's most powerful weapon it has still been improved. It still leaves enemies in puddles of red goo.

GREAT BOOMERANG: Definately my favorite weapon. Great Mazinger's chest plate set in a curved piece. He could remove this piece and use it as a boomerang.

MAZIN SPIN KICK: Being a close combat specialist, Great Mazinger got two weapons integreated into its legs. The first, and most powerful, was the Spin kick. A blade would come out of the front of Great's leg to deliver a powerful, slashing kick.

MAZIN KNEE SPIKE: Uncertain of the name. This is the second leg weapon Great was given. A spike came from his kneee that he could drive into his enemies.

SCRAMBLE DASH: Great Mazinger had it easier than Mazinger in this respect. Great Mazinger's Scrander folded out of his back so he didn't have to worry about waiting for it.


GREAT BOOSTER: A "Super Scrander". Great Booster would attach to Great Mazinger's back and act as a wing. Great Mazinger could shot it which would result in a BIG spike coming from the front and destroying whatever it hits. Definately cool.

VENUS ACE: Was created by Dr. Kenzo Kabuto for his adopted daughter Jun(Junette). Just like Aphrodite and Diana, she kept getting trashed which would suggest that it was not built out of the same material as Great Mazinger.

LASER MISSILE: Venus Alpha was a female robot in a Mazinger series so I guess this was a obvious weapon. Basically the same as Aphrodite's or Diana's.

FINGER MISSILES: This was actually an old Mazinger Z attack that he only used once so I had forgotten about it. I guess they felt that Venus Alpha should have it too. Basically missiles would fire from her finger tips and then reload(In Mazinger Z they didn't).

LASER BEAMS: They seem to be putting a lot of old Mazinger Z weapons in Venus Alpha. This is basically the Laser Beams(but weaker, I think) except they are purple instead of yellow.

WING: Venus Alpha had a Scrander of her own so she could rush into battle and get beat up even more quickly. :) The wings were not as long as Scrander's and the part that attaches to the back was bigger. She connected to it exactly the same way.

CHIO'S ROBOT: Not sure of the name but it was created for Chio so he could help out. He was mostly comic relief along with Boss Borot. He was armed with a baseball bat that came from his shoulder. Not really damaging in anyway.


Boss Borot also appeared in Great Mazinger but was basically the same.
